According to astronomical calculations, this year’s Eid al-Adha (Eid al-Adha) will begin on Wednesday, May 27, the Qatar Calendar House announced. The authorities also stated that the twelfth month of the Islamic calendar, Dhul-Hijjah, is likely to begin on Monday, May 18.
This was announced by Dr. Faisal Ansari, Executive Director of Qatar Calendar House. According to the calculations, the Dhul-Hijjah moon will be sighted on Saturday at 11:02 pm (Doha time). Therefore, it will be impossible to sight the moon in Qatar or other Arab-Islamic countries on Saturday evening. Based on this, May 18 is considered the first day of the month of Dhul-Hijjah.
Dhul-Hijjah is the month in which the holy Hajj is performed. Eid al-Adha, which Muslims around the world celebrate to commemorate the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim, will be held on the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah. Currently, these dates are announced based on astronomical observations. However, the religious affairs departments confirm the official dates only by directly sighting the moon.
