Ministry Issues Health Guidelines for Those Traveling to Saudi Arabia for Umrah!

The Ministry has made the meningococcal (quadrivalent ACYW-135) vaccine mandatory for those traveling for Umrah or visiting the Prophet’s Mosque. This requirement applies to children aged one year and above. The vaccine must be administered at least 10 days before the journey. The Ministry emphasized that this is part of efforts to safeguard the health and well-being of pilgrims and visitors.

All required vaccines for Hajj and Umrah are available at Primary Health Care Corporation Centers (PHCC), the Ministry confirmed. It urged everyone, especially those most vulnerable to health issues, to adhere to the recommended preventive health guidelines.

While Saudi authorities recommend pilgrims receive the COVID-19 and seasonal influenza vaccines, these are not mandatory, the Ministry clarified. However, travelers from countries where wild poliovirus or vaccine-derived poliovirus (VDVF2, VDVF1) is circulating are required by Saudi regulations to receive the polio vaccine. Similarly, those coming from regions affected by yellow fever must obtain the yellow fever vaccine.
