The Ministry of Home Affairs has warned against strict compliance with traffic regulations on child seating to ensure the safety of children inside vehicles. The Ministry of Home Affairs stressed in a statement that placing children under the age of ten in the front seat is a clear violation of Article (3) of the Traffic Law (55) and poses a serious safety risk. Studies show that children sitting in the front seat in accidents are eight times more likely to suffer serious injuries than adults.
The ministry warned that airbags designed to protect adults can be dangerous or fatal to children due to their small body size. The ministry reiterated that children should always be seated in the back, using a safety seat that is properly fastened and is appropriate for their age and weight.
