Qatar’s National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) issued a notice on August 24, 2026 to educate the public about their right to opt out of promotional messages. The agency has also clarified the steps that can be taken by those who wish to stop receiving such messages. As a first step, check whether you have previously given consent to receive promotional messages. Second, contact the senders directly and ask them to stop sending such messages.
If the institutions have been contacted in this way and there is no response from them or the messages continue to be received, the public can file a complaint. Complaints for this should be submitted to the ‘Personal Data Privacy Protection Department’ (PDPPD) of the National Cyber Security Agency. The specially prepared complaint form can be filled out and sent to the email address privacy@ncsa.gov.qa.
