Resumption of in-person learning in educational institutions; all students to return to school from March 29

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has decided to resume in-person learning in educational institutions in a phased manner. This will start from March 24, 2026. Classes will begin completely in-person for all students in schools and kindergartens from Sunday, March 29.

Administrative and teaching staff services and direct care for children will resume in nurseries for children from Wednesday, March 25. Distance learning will continue temporarily for students from Tuesday, March 24 to Thursday, March 26. Administrative and teaching staff will begin visiting schools in person from March 25 to prepare for the return of students to classes on March 29.

The schedule of government schools during the distance learning period will be as follows:

  • Kindergartens: Asynchronous learning.
  • Primary, Preparatory and Secondary sections: 9:00 am to 12:35 pm.

There will be five periods of 35 minutes each. After the second period, there will be two breaks of 15 minutes each for breakfast and after the fourth period, for prayer.

Private schools and kindergartens must implement the online learning system during this temporary period. They can either follow the schedule of government schools or prepare their own schedule in a way that allows them to complete the curriculum. However, whichever method is chosen, classes must start at 9:00 am and the teaching time should not exceed five hours.
