Online learning for private schools and kindergartens from Sunday; New directive from the Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has directed all private schools, kindergartens, educational service centers and nurseries to suspend face-to-face classes and switch to completely online learning (Distance Learning) from March 1, 2026 (Sunday). This decision is a precautionary measure in the wake of new developments in the sector. This practice will continue until further notice.

The ministry made this known in Circular No. (2) of 2026 issued to school owners, principals, licensees and directors. The ministry stated that the aim of this is to ensure a safe environment for students, teachers, administrative staff and other support staff.

According to the new decision, in-person attendance of students, as well as teachers and other staff, in all private schools and kindergartens shall be suspended with immediate effect. Instead, all institutions should ensure that classes continue uninterrupted according to current academic schedules using approved electronic platforms and educational websites.
