The Saudi Council of Ministers has approved a contract for a new 785-km electric high-speed rail line connecting Saudi Arabia and Qatar. This important decision was made at a cabinet meeting held in Riyadh on February 10, 2026, chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.
The main features of the project are:
- Travel time: With the new rail line, the travel time between Riyadh and Doha will be reduced to approximately two hours.
- Speed: Trains will travel at speeds of more than 300 kilometers per hour.
- Route: The line connecting Riyadh and Doha will have major stations in Dammam and Al-Ahsa.
This project is seen as a major step towards improving transportation facilities and strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
