Qatar has reached a major milestone in sustainable mobility with the installation of over 300 fast electric vehicle (EV) chargers nationwide, according to Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahrama). This is part of the country’s broader goal to promote clean energy and reduce carbon emissions, as per Qatar National Vision 2030.
The announcement was made during a community engagement event held at the Kahrama Awareness Park in Al Thumama. Engineer Rashid Hussain Al-Rahimi, Director of Conservation and Energy Efficiency at Kahrama, also showcased Kahrama’s EV Charging App, which allows users to monitor charging, receive alerts and access real-time data. The platform supports Kahrama’s goal of increasing convenience and system efficiency.
The event highlighted Kahramaa’s ongoing efforts in public outreach, sustainability education, and infrastructure development. In line with the growing adoption of electric vehicles in Qatar, plans are underway to expand EV charging access in residential areas, malls, and public spaces.
