STUDENTS ATTENDING A CLASS IN QATAR SCHOOL

“Test Day, Rest Day”: New Academic Calendar with Major Changes

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has announced the new academic calendar for public and private schools in Qatar for the years 2025–2026, 2026–2027, and 2027–2028.

In addition to the official Ramadan holidays, the new calendar includes two additional holidays for students and staff. These additional holidays will be provided for the 2025–2026 and 2027–2028 academic years.

One of the main attractions is the “Test Day, Rest Day” system. It will be used for the second semester exams for high school students. It allows for a day of rest between exams to help students prepare better and stay mentally and physically healthy.

Changes to the calendar:

  • The mid-year break will be the third week of December.
  • There will be no final exams during Ramadan, so students can focus on religious and cultural activities.
  • There will be a long break after the second semester midterm exams.
  • The first semester final exams will be scheduled before National Day, so students can participate in the celebrations.

The changes are based on the Shura Council’s directive to adjust public and private school holidays and support the well-being of students.
