The Qatar Civil Aviation Authority has warned the public as the Al-Bawarih wind season begins in the Gulf region. Strong winds are expected to blow from the northwest between May and July.
Light dust particles may be carried in the wind, making it difficult to see clearly. These are caused by weather changes associated with the Indian monsoon and high pressure in the northern Arabian Peninsula.
The Al-Bawarih wind will start slowly after sunrise and will strengthen in the afternoon. Authorities advise people, especially children and those with health problems, to be careful as dust particles and other small particles can be carried in the air.
