The highly anticipated 2025 MotoGP Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar will be held at Lusail International Circuit (LIC) from April 11-13, the fourth round of the season. Having hosted the first MotoGP race in 2004 and introduced night racing in 2008, LIC remains the only circuit to offer evening races. The 5.38km track, with 16 corners, will once again be illuminated under LIC’s iconic floodlights.
Marc Marquez (93) leads the championship standings with 37 points after his victory in Thailand. His brother, Alex Marquez (73) of BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP, is in second place with 29 points, while Francesco Bagnaia (63) is in third place with 23 points.
However, reigning champion Jorge Martin has yet to make an impact this season after suffering multiple fractures in a pre-season training accident. As he undergoes surgery and recovery, his participation in the Qatar GP is uncertain.
Exciting changes for the 2025 MotoGP season
There have been big changes in the MotoGP paddock this season. Marc Marquez has joined the factory Ducati Lenovo team, while Prima has moved to Pramac Racing Yamaha. Rising star Pedro Acosta has been promoted to Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, ending the legendary Repsol-Honda partnership after 30 years. Among the top rookies, Ai Ogura (79) of Trackhouse Racing has already performed well, finishing fifth in the standings with 17 points.
