Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Open at Hamad International Airport

Hamad International Airport, in partnership with Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA), has launched a public electric vehicle (EV) charging station initiative under the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency and Tarsheed. The first fast EV chargers have been installed at the ground level of the airport’s East Car Park and can charge two vehicles simultaneously, providing up to 50 kW of power and a driving range of approximately 125 km in 30 minutes, with the services managed via the Tarsheed Smart EV mobile app.

Kahramaa said the initiative reflects a shared commitment with Hamad International Airport to promote energy efficiency, smart technologies and sustainable transportation in Qatar. The airport has already taken several steps to reduce electricity consumption, including optimizing district cooling, switching to energy-efficient lighting, and using smart metering systems, and plans to further expand EV charging facilities as part of a broader push for eco-friendly transportation and improved energy management nationwide.
