Qatar and Saudi Arabia will develop a 785-kilometer high-speed electric rail link connecting Doha and Riyadh, the Ministry of Transport announced, which will reduce travel time between the two capitals to just two hours. The rail line will pass through key areas including Al-Hofuf and Dammam, and will directly connect Hamad International Airport to King Salman International Airport, boosting business, tourism and cross-border mobility.

The project is expected to serve more than 10 million passengers annually, create more than 30,000 direct and indirect jobs, and contribute approximately 115 billion riyals to the combined GDP of the two countries. Scheduled for completion within six years, this eco-friendly project will utilize advanced smart rail technologies and will be positioned as a major step towards achieving deeper GCC connectivity and less environmentally-friendly transportation.
