Simaisma Beach, located 40 kilometers north of Doha, was officially closed on June 10, 2025, to make way for the Simaisma Tourism Project, led by Qatari Diar. The beach will be closed for five years to allow for the construction of what is set to become one of the largest and most transformative tourism developments in Qatar.
The project, which spans eight million square meters along a seven-kilometer coastline, is expected to redefine the future of tourism and entertainment in Qatar. Qatar will become a year-round destination for residents and international visitors.
The Simaisma Tourism project will include 16 distinct tourism zones open for private sector investment, with key features of the project including four uniquely designed resort areas, a world-class theme park, an 18-hole golf course, high-end residential villas, a yacht marina, and a curated mix of fine dining restaurants and high-end retail outlets.
