QMD: Strong dust storms to continue in Qatar until May 8

Qatar Meteorological Department (QMD) has said that dust storms will continue in Qatar until May 8. Weather forecaster Fatima Al-Khulayifi said that dusty weather and strong winds will continue for the next two days. The sky turned dusty on Tuesday, polluting the air and reducing the distance people can see.

Government offices have issued safety advisories to the public due to the storm. QMD also warned people to be very careful. Temperatures may drop slightly and humidity in the air may decrease. The dust is expected to remain thick until Thursday, with conditions likely to improve by Friday.

Dust storms are common during the Al Sharjah period, which runs from late March to mid-May. This season brings sudden changes in the weather, with strong winds blowing dust and sand into the air. The current storm is also due to this northwesterly wind, which is affecting many countries in the region.

In Qatar, the storm is not expected to be as severe, but could cause very poor visibility. People are advised to stay indoors, and marine activities have been suspended due to strong winds and high waves.
