A new law from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has come into effect, making it easier to hold discounts throughout the year. The new law, Decision No. (4) of 2025, was signed by Minister Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani. Shops can now apply for more discount licenses throughout the year.
Previously, there were limits on how many times shops could hold discount sales. Now, they can ask for permission to hold large and small discount sales several times a year. The Department of Consumer Protection will monitor these sales, so as to ensure that they help customers.
