The Cabinet has approved new measures to ease the financial burden of the disabled, social security beneficiaries and the elderly, including retirees. The decision follows the recommendations of the “Technical Committee Study Service Fees”, which reviewed fees for various government services.
These new discounts and rebates apply to services from several government ministries:
Ministry of Interior:
Disabled persons, social security recipients, senior citizens and retirees will receive fee discounts and rebates for services such as residency permits and traffic department transactions.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
For non-commercial document certification services:
- Disabled persons and social security recipients will be fully exempted.
- Senior citizens and retirees will receive a 50% discount.
Ministry of Municipality:
Public parking and park access are now free for people with disabilities, social security recipients, senior citizens and retirees.
Ministry of Public Health:
Health card issuance fees have been waived for all categories.
Ministry of Justice:
For off-site services by ministry employees:
- People with disabilities and social security recipients are exempted from fees.
- Senior citizens and retirees will pay a reduced fee of 200 riyals.
Ministry of Commerce and Industry:
Issuing Tamween cards (for subsidized food and goods) is now free for all categories.
The cabinet’s move is aimed at improving access to essential services and easing the cost of living for vulnerable groups in Qatar.
