Tuesday, April 29 is the first day of Dhul-Qi’ad 1446 AH

The Qatar Calendar House has announced that Tuesday, April 29, will be the first day of Dhul-Qi’ad 1446 AH. Monday, April 28 will be the last day of Shawwal. This is based on careful calculations by their experts.

The new moon for Dhul-Qi’ad will be seen on Sunday, April 27 at 10:32 pm (7:32 PM UTC), said Engineer Faisal Al Ansari, Executive Director of the Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ansari Complex. He explained that the Dhul-Qi’ad crescent will not be sighted on Sunday evening in Qatar or most other Arab and Islamic countries, as the new moon is visible after sunset.

The movement of the moon around the Earth determines the beginning and end of the Islamic (Hijri) months, just as the movement of the Earth around the Sun determines the beginning and end of the ordinary (Gregorian) months.
