The Zakat Affairs Department of the Ministry of Endowment (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs announced on Wednesday that Zakat al-Fitr for this year’s Ramadan (1446H) has been set at 15 riyals.

The department called in a statement for ensuring that Zakat al-Fitr is paid promptly to individuals and their dependents, regardless of age or gender. It stressed that Zakat al-Fitr should be paid before the Eid al-Fitr prayer.

The ministry’s statement read: “The fixed amount for Zakat al-Fitr for one person is the amount that can buy two and a half kilograms of the country’s staple food. It should be given to the poor.”
