The second edition of Visit Qatar’s Throwback Food Festival has kicked off at Old Doha Port. It features a wide range of activities and cultural experiences. Celebrating Qatar’s heritage through traditional cuisine, performances and interactive competitions, the event is something for everyone to enjoy.
Visitors can enjoy heritage markets, traditional games and folk tales in a nostalgic setting. The ‘Dakkan’ initiative recreates old Qatari souks and offers classic dishes and sweets. The Folk Games Kiosk hosts lively competitions, while the Throwback Food Festival Theatre features quizzes, treasure hunts and storytelling on Qatar’s culinary traditions. There are also puppet shows and cooking competitions for families.
Live folk music and performances, including traditional instruments and songs related to local customs, create a festive atmosphere. The festival also includes a vibrant Garangao night, coinciding with Visit Qatar’s “Welcome Our Dear Neighbors” Ramadan campaign, which invites GCC visitors for a unique Ramadan experience under the theme “Ramadan is with you”.
