The region’s first autonomous vehicle trials have begun at Hamad International Airport.

Qatar Aviation Services (QAS), in collaboration with MATAR and Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), are testing autonomous vehicles at Hamad International Airport. The trials, which began on February 16, include an autonomous bus and a baggage tractor. The vehicles use GPS, AI, sensors and lidar to improve safety and efficiency, and operate in all weather conditions with real-time monitoring and automated charging.

The project aligns with Qatar’s vision for innovation and sustainability. If successful, it will lead to a large autonomous fleet and support the country’s broader transportation goals.
