Is Qatar a visa-free country for Indian citizens? Or is it a visa on arrival? Qatar is a country that is easy to visit for a holiday from India. Qatar is a country that offers both tourist visa and visa on arrival for Indian travelers. If you are planning to spend your next holiday in Qatar, here are some things you need to know.

Tourist Visa

Indians can apply for a Qatar tourist visa online through Hayya, the Qatar visa portal. After paying the fee for the tourist visa on the Hayya platform, you can check the visa status online. After the payment is completed, you will receive your e-visa details in your contact details. The processing time for a Qatar visa application from India varies depending on the type of visa and the workload of the embassy. Tourist and business visas are usually processed within 5 to 7 working days, while employment visas may take longer.

Visa on Arrival

In addition to a tourist visa, eligible Indian travelers can opt for a Visa on Arrival (VoA), which is valid for 30 days and can be extended for another 30 days.

Who is eligible for VoA:

A visa on arrival is available to those who possess a valid passport with at least 6 months of validity, a confirmed return ticket, proof of accommodation (hotel booking or host details), sufficient funds (credit card, bank statement), and proof of being fully vaccinated with WHO-approved vaccines.

Documents to be carried by those opting for VoA;

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months
  • Vaccination certificate
  • Confirmed return/onward ticket – Flight booking details,
  • Proof of accommodation: Hotel reservation or invitation letter,
  • Travel insurance (optional).

Other Qatar visas available to Indians

Transit Visa:

If you are transiting for more than 4 hours and less than 96 hours, you can apply for a free Qatar transit visa.

Family Visa:

Expatriates living in Qatar have the facility to sponsor their family to stay with them in the country. They are the ones who require a family visa.

Business Visa:

Those who are going to Qatar for work or business purposes should avail this visa. This type of visa is arranged by the company or agency on behalf of the traveler.

Student Visa (F1):

Foreign students who are going to Qatar to study at a Qatar University should apply for this visa. Students will be considered for admission only on the basis of residence permit.

Work Visa:

Those who are visiting the country for employment/work purposes must apply for this visa. People who have been working for at least 2 years will have to be sponsored by their employer for this visa. A health check-up is mandatory before the visitor enters the country.
