The 26th meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministers of Transport was recently held in Qatar with the attendance of GCC transport ministers and GCC Secretary-General H.E. Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi. The meeting was chaired by Qatar’s Minister of Transport, H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti.
In his opening address, Al Sulaiti emphasized the vital role that cooperation among transport ministers plays in the progress and social development of GCC nations. He highlighted the GCC Railway Project as a top priority, noting that it is progressing well, and all countries are working together to make it operational by 2030.
He explained that the project aims to connect GCC countries with a modern railway network, which will significantly impact trade, logistics, and transportation. The transportation sector, he added, is one of the areas receiving the highest attention from GCC leaders, as it supports the development and implementation of essential projects across various fields.
Al Sulaiti further stated that developing road networks to connect GCC countries and diversifying travel options are also considered major goals of the transportation sector.
